I guess this would be a good time to explain what I use this website for, which is as a notebook to jot down my reaction to concepts, which, in turn, I encounter through things I read, mostly. There's bound to be some real-life, personal things sprinkled in too, but for the most part, I discuss dead things, which are usually limited to a few narrow (even boring) topics:

1) What do I think about Malaysians?
2) Ditto Americans.
3) Religion and religiosity.
4) The value of things in the market.
5) Music (because when I'm at the computer, I'm usually writing; and when I'm writing I'm usually listening to music).
6) Writing.
7) The connection between industry (e.g. the oil industry) and human values.

If you notice, it's all outward attention, directed at other things and people, and rarely ever inward attention directed at myself. But of course, in talking about what's outside of myself, I'm revealing a lot about my own personal biases. So -- always on this blog -- the joke is on me.

If I were a good writer, I can make this joke come alive. Really alive. That's what I think good writing is really about. Good writing is supposed to draw the reader into the issue without feeling like the discussion is biased; or rather, it is supposed to draw them in, despite them knowing that all writing is inherently biased -- which is hard to do if you're humourless (like me). I'm trying to write with more humour. Or rather, I'm trying to find the humour in things and to describe how funny it all is. That's hard, because my sense of humour is terrible.
