Sorry, I'm too lazy to post patriotic photos or tell stories in Malay.
The latter, especially, is a lot of work for me, which is ironic considering this past year was meant to be my Year of Languages. I wanted to beef up my Malay and French, solidify my Farsi, and take up Mandarin with the Hubs. I wasn't obliged to do any of these things, I just thought it would be fun.
I guess I did alright -- I think I maintained my Malay and French at about the same level, in that my ability in either had not degenerated too much. Okay, so I don't use my Malay often --only when I'm talking to my mother -- but I do use French at work sometimes and it's come in handy once or twice. My Farsi has improved rapidly with classes, and is at a level where I understand what my in-laws are saying around the dinner table though I can't really speak it. But the Mandarin, despite the $200 CD-Rom set, is still at an embryonic stage ("Yi ger nang har").
In the meantime, if you have any suggestions as to entertaining Malay-language blogs/journals/personal websites/whatever that I could read, don't forget to post the link in my comments.
