No logic to this post; I'm just dumping.

Part I.
UMNO are the annoying kids at the back of the classroom that I'm so used to ignoring that I don't even get riled up when they pull stunts like firing the guy that the King wants as the CM of Terengganu. Lilian* is right to be confused; I'm wrong to think it's completely logical.

I'm wrong to think it's completely logical that UMNO can hold protest marches where no other party can; that UMNO can throw money around to strengthen loyalty, when no other party can; that UMNO can run political ads on TV where no other party can; and I'm sure if I sat here long enough I could come up with more things they can do that others can't that makes complete and utter sense.

I sort of belong to UMNO -- also very logical of me.

*Don't know her personally but damn wish I did.

Part II.
The thing that's problematic with what's happening in Terengganu is not that it's unconstitutional (almost everything that happens in Malaysia is unconstitutional is some way, right?), but that the issue went public before a mutual solution could be reached. In contrast, in Perak the Sultan called a time-out followed by a talking-to in private. Technically speaking, the eventual appointment of the PAS man as Perak Mentri Besar was the wrong outcome (as per the federal constitution, which bans religious and racial discrimination -- tricky one), but the Sultan managed to gain agreement from everyone to support his choice, enabling the guy to clear the bar legally. And the rest is history.

But all of this means one thing: we now need to relearn our constitutional law.
