The other day while waiting for Hisham to finish his meeting so we could talk about the thing I wanted discuss with him, I couldn't stop thinking about going to Subang Parade to look at a knitting shop there. It's one of three shops around KL that sells woollen yarn, that I know of. In the end, I didn't go -- even though Subang Parade was just there -- because I wanted to make sure I caught Hisham. Instead I hung around the shops near his office, and just by luck, came upon a small arts and crafts outfit selling yarn which they've piled up willy-nilly in the corner behind the ribbons. It was cheap polyester, plus warna tak menarik, so I didn't buy any. But just looking and squeezing those bundles of yarn triggered that knitting feeling.
I think these thoughts mean that I want to go home.
I open my inbox this morning and see a promotional email from those nice people at The Point off Carmine Street, diagonally opposite Evergreen where Hooman and I go to rent foreign films that aren't on Netflix. "BRAND NEW NEVER BEFORE AT THE POINT. So many new yarns . . . Lorna's Laces has paired with Mountain Colors to create Duets, gorgeous pattern and yarn kits. The first shawl kit is in stock in five amazing colorways. We are proud to introduce JoJoLand Yarn. Another great new vendor. Come see their yummy cashmere & great patterns. Then there is the beautiful lace weight called Harmony. You will not believe your eyes as the subtle color changes unfold! Next there's our old pal SWTC. Allow me to introduce Inspiration (and it is). A new yarn with the amazing blend of Alpaca & Soysilk. We also have six new colors of our old friend Bamboo. Ask about the free patterns for Inspiration & Bamboo. Every day a new store!"
It's not exactly the most wonderful prose I've ever heard. But still, I really feel like going home.
