Bryant Park, carousel

First time at the office in a long while, yesterday. Security was tight because of Gordon Brown. Pope is coming Friday but I'm not in Friday.

Not many people were around. A handful were away on trips, and the rest are scattered around on other assignments or are working outside. At midday I set off on a walk to the PrĂȘt by the Mets Clubhouse, opposite Bryant Park, bought lunch, and ate it with a thousand other people who had the same idea, apparently.

The park was overflowing with people -- New Yorkers, out-of-towners.

The leaves are normally out in April, but it's an exceptional spring this year. There was a clear view of the steel and glass towers of Midtown through the leafless branches of the sycamore trees, with the sun beating down on us. It was an astonishingly beautiful day.
