Laundry list of thoughts yet to gel.

This weekend it is freezing cold again, and my allergies are particularly bad -- two unrelated things, but which contribute equally to my physical discomfort. I'm doing a lot of reading (on the energy conundrum; linguistics; and statistical probability) and spending a lot of time in my own headspace. I'm on the hunt for a copy of Culture Club's Greatest Moments: VH1 Storytellers double-CD, and so far have looked at one used records shop to no avail. I am also on the lookout for a good book on native Americans but was unsatisfied with the ones I saw at the book store yesterday.

I had asked the Haudenosaunee chief (we were together again late last week) to clarify whether the New York land we were standing on at that particular moment was his peoples' land or Iroquois land, as my preliminary research would have it. He said, "It's ours," but with no further clarification. But he did add, "Their territory is to the north of us." Then I asked about Hoboken, New Jersey (my most favourite place in all of America). He paused thoughtfully and after a couple of seconds, answered, "That's Delaware." At least that jived with my findings. Now, either he's lying about east New York, or I've misunderstood something. It is probably the latter, but the former is possible.

I want to watch Iron Man, which got good reviews and I'm curious to see what comic book readers are so het up about. Last night, Hooman and I ploughed through our Netflix movies and eliminated The Good Shepherd, which -- after the first two minutes -- we realized we had already seen, though neither could recall the plot. We then put The Company on, which is a silly film about spies falling in love and I fell asleep.

Earlier in the evening, we had ordered a pizza to-go from Napoli's, which is our favourite pizza maker du jour (del giornio?). But they had messed up the order and added sausage; so we hung around another 20 minutes while they made a pizza with just red onions with anchovies. In Putrajaya, I once ordered a pizza with onions and olives from Pizza Hut and the guy looked askance at my order and said, "Onion and olive sahaja?" but was a good sport about it. I also remember asking for a crispy pizza, not pan, but they made me a pan pizza anyway. I wasn't ticked off or anything; I was just experimenting to see how closely they stuck to your order. And it turns out they don't.
