Tomorrow I'm seeing a podiatrist about my left foot, which has been bothering me for quite some time, so I'm happy about that. I also got myself a prescription nasal spray, which shrinks the membranes in my nose (that's the explanation I got from the GP) so I can breathe better -- and I do. But it doesn't really do anything about my sinuses, and I still snore; maybe in time, things will improve on that front as well. On other fronts, I have gained ten pounds since I got back from Malaysia, but my cholesterol levels are under control and I am not diabetic. Hooray for me.
Hopefully the podiatrist can tell me what's wrong with the way I run and walk, so I can buy the right type of foot supports to stick inside my shoes. Or maybe he can tell me what exercises to do to strengthen the appropriate muscles in my leg so its movement is a little bit more balanced. Then I can start running again, and maybe walking long distances won't be so hellish.
Speaking of exercise... Because I'm an ass, my exercise routine consists of doing the bare minimum. I've been doing crunches, and variations on crunches, which is making me stronger in the mid-section but not leaner. To trim off the fat I would need to go to the gym and start doing weights again, which will shave off the blubber in no time and give me some shape in the legs and arms. But I am just too darned lazy to do that. I would start doing yoga again, which I really do enjoy, but it's so time-intensive -- one session is one and a half hours long -- that I just don't want to. You could argue that running is time-intensive too, (it takes me one hour to do just five miles), but at least I'm outdoors and enjoying the view with the wind rushing in my face, and not stuck in a room on a mat. At least, that's what I tell myself.
Funnily enough, I seem to have no trouble sitting in a room watching TV for hours on end.
