The hours between ten o'clock and midnight are probably the most anticipated moments of my day, because usually there's no work left to do, but it's still too early for bed. So, in my mind's eye, I'm stretched out in bed reading a good book, feeling snuggly in the soft sheets and generally having a nice time relaxing, before finally turning the lights off and going to sleep.
More likely than not, though, I don't get to fulfill that fantasy. I often squander those hours, perhaps at the computer, reading and re-reading something I've written earlier in the day, changing one or two words here and there. Pretty soon, half and hour has passed, and then another half an hour.
I'm determined not to do any of that tonight. I have just returned from a walk, during which I bought myself a kid's cup of Strawberry Cheesecake ice-cream from Ben & Jerry's and ate it, and now I'm going to brush my teeth and go lie down!
