Tying up ends.

The first day of Ramadan was glum and it's the same each year. After having done this for about, oh I don't know, 20 years or so, I've sunk into a pattern with my body, physically, and it's always the same. The first few days, I don't get hungry but cold, to the extent that I put on a fleece. And I am usually bored stiff. Bored, bored, bored. What makes things worse this year is that I'm off-contract, so I don't have work to keep me occupied. Plus the first day of Ramadan was Labor Day (no "u" because it's Yankee Labor Day), so while other people were marking the last day of summer at the beach, I was just sitting there, feeling out of sorts. Hooman was glum yesterday too, for other reasons, which affected me a great deal.

Mostly the two of us did our own thing. Hooman went out for walks and I sat on the couch and worked on the Pam Allen shrug that I began knitting a year ago but never completed. I frogged about three-quarters of it and re-did huge portions of the back and sleeves, because the problem with it was that the sleeves were too tight. One reason I lost the will to finish the shrug last year was that I had miscalculated the number of stitches I needed for the collar, which on a shrug is a very important decorational aspect in addition to being functional. But I told myself I was experimenting, and made it okay for myself that it wasn't absolutely perfect.

To finish this project in one shot, I sat through Planet of the Apes, part of the Mets game with Hooman, part the U.S. Open men's quarter finals, about three back-to-back episodes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and The Charge of the Light Brigade. And once and for all I was done.

Judging from the picture, it turned out rather well, I'd have to say. Love the colour, too.

If you still feel bored, you can start knitting one for me, too ;-)

It's wearable, so I'm happy.

You live in the tropics. So no sweaters for you, lady!

diz, did you know that I once knitted a baby's jumper with both sleeves on one side? The baby, thankfully was born with hands where they should be, so the jumper was sort of useless! what a shame.

selamat berpuasa.
Oh Mawar will morph into Melur in a month's time.

Kak Teh you told me this story before. It's unbelievable. How can that be? Leave it to you to do the impossible.
