Comments fixed; it's "winter" pedantry.

I fixed the comments!

It's winter here if you go by temperature, but technically speaking winter begins on December 22. Fay and I had a conversation on Friday morning about the importance of understanding what you're saying, so that what you say actually means something and that you're not just spouting nonsense. So, if on 21 November I say "It's winter" -- which is wrong -- you have every right to call me on it. Which was what Paula did, later.

"Call me on it" had its origins in the sports term "call", as in "to make a call" -- which is to say, a declaration by a referee.
