It was a quiet new year because Gaza happened and not too many people are in the mood to celebrate. Hooman and I spent new year's in separate countries (again!), where neither of us did much but sleep through the transition from 2008 to 2009. I had a good run-up to the new year though, aside from the flu that is. My two new favorite places are The Lime Tree Cafe and More. My least favorite place is Putrajaya -- all of it. You know how they tell you to create your own reality? Doesn't work in Putrajaya.

I've been reading Ophelia's blog these past couple of months. She must be wondering who visits her from Hoboken, New Jersey. Well Ophelia, it's me. About Ophelia: she's a teenager from West Bandung. She writes about love, boys and fights she's had with her friends, all in really nice Indonesian Malay prose. My goal while in Malaysia was to have Malay lessons every day with a teacher, but it was tough finding someone willing to teach over the holidays. So I settle for a bit of Ophelia instead. She hasn't been writing much lately, though.
